Why Shariah Compliant Takaful Cover?

Protection, the way your faith intends.

Conventional Life insurance is not permissible in Islam because it violates core Shariah principles through elements of Uncertainty, Interest & Gambling.

Conventional Insurance

What's to be avoided

Riba (Interest) Contributions are accumulated & invested into conventional & interest bearing investments & assets. Allows wealth to grow without shared risk or productive effort.
Maysir (Gambling & Speculation) Element of chance. One party's gain relies on another party's loss. You pay a premium to an insurer in exchange for a promise of indemnity or payout.
Gharar (Excessive Uncertainty) Neither party knows if or when a claim will happen. Policyholder does not know if or when they will receive a payout, or how much they will 'lose' by paying premiums for years with no claim.
The Izdara Takaful Way

How we're different

Tabarru' (Voluntary Contribution) Participants make a voluntary donation into a common fund (Participant's Risk Fund) and is made with the explicit intention of helping fellow participants who suffer a covered loss - not to receive a guaranteed return themselves.
Shariah-compliant Investment Funds Contributions are invested only in Shariah-compliant instruments - sukuk instead of conventional bonds, Shariah-compliant equities, Islamic money market funds etc.
Surplus Shared Back Surplus accumulated in the Participant Risk Fund after all expenses and claims are paid remains with the Participants to protect against future claims or build reserves and strengthen solvency.
